in april last year, when the controversy started brewing in san francisco over large scale habitat restoration projects in the presidio and elsewhere, i was really disappointed that i didn't see any letters to the editor in the sf chronicle in support of these projects.
instead i saw letters in support of preserving alien invasive species like the eucalyptus and letting the region's endangered species drop off into oblivion.
so, even though the chronicle had never published one of my letters, and i'd been writing them letters now and then for years, i wrote a letter in support of habitat restoration. and then another letter. and then another.
so far, they've published ten of them.
but, of course, i was soon ready to move on to the next stage in my career as a loudmouthed sand hugging zealot, so, as my good deed for earth day, i sent them a 650-word editorial.
and it's in today's chronicle! woohoo! check it out.
what's next? oprah? well, ok, that might be a little too much to hope for. but maybe i should put together a botanical-themed medley and audition for "american idol."
